RAMP Server Training Info:

 ---Trainer----Larry Barnett—Tavern owner 1980-2007. In the Alcohol Industry over 35 years as  a server, manager and an owner. Former board member of the Pa. Tavern Assn.

  ---Teach CART (Classroom Approved RAMP Training) ---I will come to your place when it fits your schedule.
            
---Class lasts approx. 3hrs. 15 min. to 3 1/2 hrs.

---Alcohol staff consists of owners, managers, bartenders, waitresses, doormen, stewards or board of directors that serve alcohol or check ID’s. Must train and maintain at least 50% of alcohol staff in Server Training for the establishment to be RAMP Certified. Recommended  training is 100% of staff (including owners) in case of  terminations.

---Cost-----Class size determines price—-- Tax Deductible Expense.     

Can partner with other establishments to receive discounts.

Class size :  5 or less trainees--$250 Flat rate.
6 to 10 trainees --- $ 40/person.
11 to 19 trainees---$ 35/person
20 to 29 trainees---$ 30/person
30 to 40 trainees---$ 25/person

 ---Some establishments: Pay for employee, split cost with employee based on how long they stay or make employee pay.
                     
---Cards issued to trainees that pass the RAMP exam.—You should  photocopy for your records then distribute to employees. Some insurance carriers offer discounts to RAMP Certified establishments.

---As of June 2006 if an establishment is cited for a VIP or Sales to a minor RAMP will be mandated.

The South Side Bar and Restaurant Association has recently been reactivated and infused with new leadership.  This leadership is committed to bring a higher level of successes to the South Side, its restaurants and Bars.

  • Increased complaints from South Side residents and retail businesses;

The South Side Bar and Restaurant Association seeks to establish itself as a means and ends to defend your interest against these attacks.  As a collective we have a booming voice, as separates we have a ghost's whisper;

            We need your voice to make ours the strongest possible.  We need your participation to ensure that your interests are properly represented on a local, county and state wide manager.

The South Side of the City of Pittsburgh is one of the safest, vibrant, eclectic, and wonderful communities in the country. 

The business community, centering primarily on the East Carson Street area reflects this rich and diverse mixture and runs through the heart of the South Side.  This national treasure is one of the oldest and largest in the county.  Art galleries, tattoo shops, upscale women's clothing shops intermingle on this bustling thoroughfare alongside many fine restaurants, bars, coffee shops and professional businesses.

The harmony of this mix and the success of the mixture is in the diversity of the community.

The South Side Bar and Restaurant Association is dedicated to providing a clear, unified and prominent voice for tavern bar and restaurant operations located in the South Side of Pittsburgh.  In the course of providing this unified voice, the Association understands and recognizes that bars and restaurants must co-exist with other businesses and residents of this community.

The South Side Bar and Restaurant Association is dedicated to the continued prosperity and preservation of the South Side of the City of Pittsburgh as one of the safest, vibrant and wonderful urban villages in the country.   The South Side and its business district, East Carson Street, is a national treasure.  Art galleries, tattoo shops, upscale women's clothing shops intermingle on this thoroughfare alongside many fine restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and home and professional businesses.  The harmony of this mix and the success of the mixture is in the diversity of the community.  The South Side Bar and Restaurant Association is dedicated to and is charged with the responsibility of preserving this harmonious mixture which makes this, the South Side of Pittsburgh, so unique.
